If you’ve been playing “I Spy” with Cinderella Castle lately, you might have noticed the 50th Anniversary decorations are starting to come down.

On a recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we began to see an even more noticeable change to the castle. Recently, the big 50th Anniversary emblem was taken down over the castle clock, and we’ve also seen the moat area drained; but this change is even more noticeable.
Now that Walt Disney World’s 18-month-long 50th celebration is in the history books, we’re continuing to see Imagineers remove the remaining decorations. We recently spotted more changes to Cinderella Castle’s front turrets — can you tell what’s different?

The golden ribbons that once swirled around those shimmering blue turrets have now been removed… at least from the front side. We’re still waiting for Disney to remove the decorations on the back side of the castle.

For reference, here’s a look back at what the full 50th Anniversary decorations looked like before Disney started removing the decor.

Now that Disney started celebrating its new 100 Years of Wonder anniversary, we have a feeling that the remaining 50th Anniversary decorations should disappear soon.
It’s a bittersweet ending for those that really enjoyed the castle additions, but it also gives us something new to look forward to with the next major milestone to celebrate in Disney World. As always, for the latest in Disney parks news, stay with us at AllEars.

I thought the additions were beautiful. They could have left everything but the 50th sign and it would have simply plussed up the castle!
