CHANGES Could Be Coming to Disney World Bathrooms SOON

Summer is right around the corner, and if you’re heading to Disney World soon, it’s a good idea to start preparing.

Between planning which rides you want to choose, where you want to eat, and so much more — it can be a lot to keep up with. Since we’re in the parks every day, we’re privy to all sorts of things to be on the lookout for — like some potential changes on the horizon.

Not just any changes, either — we’re talking some very important potential updates. We took a look at construction permits that were recently filed in Orange and Osceola Counties and spotted two interesting filings.

You might know what it’s like to have to go, like go go in Disney World — but not all bathrooms are created equally. Luckily, we spotted two different permits related to bathrooms in the parks that could point to some upgrades.

Now, keep in mind that these permits could be for anything, really — something small or an entire overhaul. We won’t know until the work begins or once it’s done. But, we did find a permit filed on May 3rd for restrooms in Magic Kingdom.

It doesn’t say what it’s for exactly, but it’s a Notice of Commencement for work on “MK-2 Restroom Building.” So, while we’re not sure which bathroom this is just yet, we’ll be on the lookout for any construction in Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney Imagineering was listed as the owner on another permit, this time filed on May 2nd. From the address on the Notice of Commencement, we can tell this is for work to be done in Animal Kingdom. Not only that, but it looks like we can pinpoint it further to the “Asia Area Restrooms 1” in Animal Kingdom, located behind Yak & Yeti!

But, this permit is a bit more specific (and less exciting) than the last one — all it mentions in the description is that signs will be installed. And, while that may not be anything to write home about for now, it could mean that more updates are on the way. It’s possible that Imagineering could file more permits for this location, and if that happens — we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, we’ve got plenty of tips on how to do your business in Disney World. Hotel lobby bathrooms are often nice and secluded, and you don’t have to worry about the chaos of the parks. Disney’s Beach Club (located by Martha’s Vineyard) or Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (located off the main lobby) restrooms are some of our go-to’s because they’re kept clean, nice-smelling, and stocked with necessary toiletries.

As far as parks go, sometimes the best bathroom actually isn’t in the park at all — it’s right out front! At Magic Kingdom, the restrooms are to the right of the entrance, located near Guest Relations. The bathrooms at the Transportation & Ticket Center (if you drove to the park) are also not too busy, unless it’s a particularly crowded day.

At EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, the outside-the-park spots are located to the left of the entrance. For Hollywood, the bathroom is before you go through security, but at EPCOT it’s after. You’ll also find a restroom on your way to the EPCOT bus stop, but that one can be a little more crowded. Depending on where you are, there might also be bathrooms near quieter attractions.
