5 Things That Are CLOSED at Disney World in May

You have the choose the dates, book a hotel, buy tickets, find transportation, decide if you want to buy Genie+ or not, make dining reservations, and more! That’s why we do our best to keep you updated on the latest changes at Disney World, so you’ll know what to expect when you visit. Now we want to bring to your attention 5 things that you WON’T be able to do if you’re visiting Disney World in May.

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

One of the most popular coasters in Disney World officially closed on February 21st for a lengthy refurbishment. The ride isn’t set to reopen until sometime this summer — be prepared for this if you’re visiting soon! We’ll keep you updated when an official opening date is announced.

The Boneyard

One Animal Kingdom attraction that you may or may not know about is also closed. The Boneyard is a play area in DinoLand USA where kids can run around and burn off some energy — however, it is closed for a long refurbishment until June 13th.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

The Little Mermaid stage show has been closed since the 2020 closures in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney has not announced if/when the show will come back.

Blizzard Beach

As one water park reopens, another closes. Typhoon Lagoon reopened in March and Disney announced that Blizzard Beach would be closing for refurbishment. There is currently no reopening date for the water park.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure

Splash Mountain closed in January 2023, and it’ll remain closed until late 2024.

The ride will be themed to the movie The Princess and the Frog and when it reopens, it’ll be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. On a recent trip, we noticed that even more Splash Mountain decor had been removed.
