The Day Everything Went WRONG in Disney World

It happens to the best of us. Some mornings we just can’t seem to wake up on time, we’re late to work, and somewhere in there we forgot to grab breakfast and that delicious caffeinated cup of magic on our way out the door.

Main Street U.S.A. does help us wake up a bit more in the mornings, though!

Genie+ and more were apparently having one of those mornings recently! Lots of features on the Disney World app and website weren’t working as we headed into the parks.

Yep, that’s right! Sometimes even Disney has a rough start to the morning like on April 25th, 2023. The first thing we noticed while we were headed in was that the Virtual Queue system was down for TRON. Then, we decided to check the Virtual Queue for Guardians, and it was down as well. We were greeted with the “Please Check Back Later” screen.

If we can’t join the Virtual Queue, we can just purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, right? Wrong! The Lightning Lane and Genie+ system was also down! We were greeted with the dreaded “Pardon the Inconvenience” screen.

Finally, when we checked the Park Pass system, it was down as well and we got the “We’re Working on It” screen.

When we actually arrived at Magic Kingdom, though, the issue seemed to be solved as people were joining both the Lightning Lane and Virtual Queue lines at the attraction. It could have opened up and then sold out just as quickly, or it could have been a glitch where only some people could book Lightning Lanes and Virtual Queues and others couldn’t — Cast Members weren’t quite sure.

This is not the first time we’ve seen Disney have a major technology issue — it happens for a variety of reasons. But if it happens to you, be patient and flexible — there’s no point in stressing over something you can’t control! Cast Members will be able to help you out with inconveniences or issues you face from the tech problems.
