He is currently working on several follow-ups to his franchises, including Sing, Despicable Me, and Secret Life of Pets, as well as original movies like Migration. Meledandri is also serving as a creative partner to DreamWorks Animation as it looks to reboot the Shrek franchise, and he hopes to see the return of the original voice cast for Shrek 5.

While there are no deals in place currently, he said negotiations are going well. “We anticipate the cast coming back. Talks are starting now, and every indication that we’ve gotten is there’s tremendous enthusiasm on behalf of the actors to return,” he said.

Meledandri also feels optimistic with the success of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and with recent comments from Eddie Murphy saying, “If [DreamWorks] ever came with another ‘Shrek,’ I’d do it in two seconds.”
