NEWS: TRON Interactive Experience Coming to Disney World

Something NEW is coming to Magic Kingdom very soon!

TRON Lightcycle / Run

Yep, we’re talking about TRON Lightcycle / Run, and all the exciting things that come along with it. We’ve already ridden the coaster during previews, and Disney has announced plans for a new snack stand outside the ride, but now we’ve got all the details on the TRON Lightcycle / Run merchandise!

When the ride opens, we know that there will be a pop-up shop with three new collections in Tomorrowland, but besides that, there’s a brand-new shopping experience that you might want to check out — the TRON Identity Program!

This new experience will be located in the newly named Tomorrowland Launch Depot (the shop next door to Space Mountain, formerly known as Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.) and will require reservations that you can make online in advance. According to Disney, the TRON Identity Program “offers guests a customizable “Program” action figure and identity chip that can be used to “re-program” other merchandise such as the interactive Identity Discs and Remote Control Lightcycles.”

Your customizable “Program” (action figure) can be made to look and sound just like you! As a “User” you’ll go through a customization process, where Image Capture scans your facial features. After that, you can select your helmet and body configuration, your classifications (Enforcer or Combatant, Scout or Heavy Sentry, etc.), and your team color. At the end, you visit Command Input, where you record six lines of dialogue in your own voice.

The whole customization process takes about 20 minutes, and then it will take 60 minutes for your “Program” to be ready for pickup. Purchase of your Program is required, and will be made upon arrival at the experience. (Similar to how building a lightsaber works in Galaxy’s Edge.) There is one action figure “per User, per experience” and this is recommended for ages 5 and up. Packaging for your figure is included in the price.

The experience is limited to one “User” and one guest for each reservation — only the User can build a figure at that time. At least one person in the party must be 14 years or older. The customizable figures are nonrefundable and not eligible for Annual Passholder (or other affiliate programs) discounts.

Tomorrowland Launch Depot

Reservations for this experience open on March 21st for dates starting April 4th. You can make reservations on the Disney World website.

We can’t wait to see what this new offering is like! We’ll make sure to check it out and share all the details, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest.
