Some rides are off to a rough start in Disney World.

All kinds of problems can unexpectedly RUIN your Disney World day — from technical issues to menu changes you didn’t anticipate. But there’s another thing you’ll want to mentally prepare for, and that’s sudden ride closures.
Disney World rides can shut down for a number of reasons and we’ve seen a number of them close during recent days and weeks. On March 10th it happened once again. Early in the morning (at around 9:25AM) we saw that the Haunted Mansion (Magic Kingdom), Kali River Rapids (Animal Kingdom), Star Wars Launch Bay: Meet Chewbacca (Hollywood Studios), and Test Track (EPCOT) were ALL temporarily closed.

Update: As of 9:52AM, some of these rides had reopened but others had closed. At that point, the rides that were temporarily closed were: Haunted Mansion, “it’s a small world” (Magic Kingdom), Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents (Hollywood Studios), and TriceraTop Spin (Animal Kingdom).
Sometimes these closures only last a few minutes. But other times these experiences can be closed for extended periods of time. It often depends on what issue has caused the closure and how quickly it can be resolved.

If you are in the parks and a ride suddenly shuts down without warning, here are some tips:
- Check the My Disney Experience app constantly for updates (if a wait time is displayed, you’ll know the ride has likely reopened!)
- Ask Cast Members outside of the attraction if they know what has happened and if they have a better idea about when the ride might reopen
- Come up with a plan “B” in case one of your must-do rides unexpectedly closes
- Mentally prepare little ones for potential closures by discussing the possibility at home
- Use that closure time to knock other things off of your list, take a break, grab a snack, or otherwise utilize your time in the park!

We’ll continue to look for updates on these closures and let you know what we find. Stay tuned for more details!

So many rides shut down this week. 7 out of 8 rides visited at MK were shut down one one day due to malfunction. Not weather. Other rides running but main animatronics in attractions not moving at all. Witnessed a lot of cut backs to once normal services on this trip.
