The Genie+ WARNING You Cannot Ignore in Disney World

Want to buy Genie+ for an upcoming Disney World trip? Allow this to serve as your official WARNING.

We’ve seen Genie+ sell out at Disneyland in the past, and on February 19th, 2023 we saw it sell out for the first time in Disney World. Now, we’ve got another Genie+ update that should serve as an important reminder for your upcoming trips.

For the second day in a row, Genie+ has SOLD OUT. It sold out on February 19th and proceeded to sell out again on February 19th. We noticed it had sold out around 2:20PM.

When we wrote about the pricing for Genie+ on February 20th ($29) at around 1PM ET, it was still available. So it seems that it sold out at some point between 1PM and 2:20PM.

It is President’s Day (a long holiday weekend), so this may not be totally unexpected. But considering the fact that Genie+ didn’t sell out in Disney World during Christmastime and New Year’s Eve, this might come as a surprise to some.

We expect Genie+ could sell out again in the future during busy periods and holiday weeks, potentially around Spring Break, the 4th of July, and more.

So what should you do if you want to buy Genie+ and will be visiting during a busy period? Buy Genie+ EARLY. Genie+ typically becomes available to purchase around midnight of the day of your trip (you do have to buy Genie+ each day you want to use it). Though you can’t make your first selection until 7AM, you can still buy the service early and “lock it in.”

In terms of Individual Lightning Lanes (pay-per-ride), we do see these sell out more frequently. To try and “lock” these in, you may want to stay at a Disney World Resort Hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, or Shades of Green. If you stay at one of those hotels, you’ll be able to make your first pay-per-ride purchase at 7AM. All other guests can’t make a pay-per-ride purchase until park open.
