The Disney World Closures That Will Trip Up Your Dining Reservations

Okay, so we know it can already be challenging scoring those ideal advance dining reservations in Disney World.

Even if you do everything right and try to book at exactly 60 days before the first day of your trip, you may still have trouble getting the restaurants you want. However, some closures are coming up that could potentially impact dining reservations, too.

Transportation Closures

The Skyliner will be closed from January 22nd through January 29th. If you make reservations at a Skyliner resort, you’ll need to know that getting to that resort could be a little trickier if you’re not staying there. For example, if you’ve scored a dining reservation at Topolino’s Terrace at Disney’s Riviera Resort and are traveling from Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, you won’t be able to get there via the Skyliner.

This is also a problem when the Skyliner is closed due to technical problems or bad weather.

Another transportation closure that could affect your dining plans involves the Monorail — if you were planning on using the Monorail to travel from resort to resort or from park to resort, you might need to make a backup plan, just in case.

Splash Mountain Closure

Splash Mountain will be closing for good on January 23rd to be rethemed as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. That means Frontierland will probably be PACKED on January 22nd, so nearby dining reservations could be hard to get, like Skipper Canteen.

This could also affect other restaurants throughout Magic Kingdom, so keep that in mind.  Many guests will be flocking to the park for one last ride on Splash  Mountain.

Hurricane Closures

One BIG thing that could throw a wrench in your dining plans in Disney World is a hurricane. Disney World may close if a hurricane is headed its way, so if you have a dining reservation at that time, you may not get to go to it.

If you are in Disney World during such a closure, you’ll be pretty much confined to your hotel room and whatever dining options are available at that hotel.

Multiple Ride Closures

If you get to a park and have multiple ride closures, you may not want to be there all day, even if you have a dining reservation for later that day. If you do want to leave that park early, you do now have the option to cancel reservations as close as two hours before.

If there are multiple ride closures, you’ll have to decide if that’s going to affect the rest of your day or not.

So what can you do if a closure happens that could affect your dining reservation? You’ll need to be flexible, but also have a backup plan, if it’s needed. You can’t control when things close in Disney World, but you can control how you respond, so keep that in mind.

We’ll keep you updated on closures that could affect your time in Disney World, so stay tuned to AllEars for more.
