There are a lot of changes happening in Disney World this year.
We’re going to see the closure of Splash Mountain (as it makes way for the new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in late 2024), along with the opening of the Moana attraction in EPCOT, and TRON in Magic Kingdom. And if you’re planning to go to Disney World for these exciting events, there are two MAJOR mistakes you’ll want to avoid.
Flexible Pricing
How much your vacation costs can completely depend on when you are visiting. Due to Disney World’s date-based pricing, going during a busier time of year will cost you more.
Additionally, in December 2022 Disney introduced new pricing for one-park, one-day tickets, so the price depends not only on the date you are visiting but also what park you are visiting.
So, when you’re planning out your Disney World vacation, you are going to want to take into account the best dates to fit your availability and budget. If you are flexible on availability, you can start by looking at the dates on which ticket prices are their LOWEST. These will typically take place during Disney World’s “slower” periods of time. Here are the cheaper dates you’ll want to be aware of for 2023:
- March — Cheapest dates: March 27th, March 29th, and March 30th — $144 per day
- April — Cheapest dates: April 2nd to April 4th — $139 per day
- May — Cheapest dates: May 1st-May 2nd, May 8th-May 10th — $139 per day
- June — Cheapest dates: June 5th, 12th-15th, 19th-22nd, and from 26th-28th — $134 per day
- July — Cheapest dates: July 24th to July 28th — $134 per day
- August — Cheapest dates: August 22nd to August 25th and from the 29th to the 31st — $109 per day
- September — Cheapest dates: September 5th-7th, 12th-14th, 18th-21st, and 26th-28th — $109 per day
- October — Cheapest dates: October 2nd, October 10th-12th, 16th-19th, and 23rd-26th — $140 per day
- November — Cheapest dates: November 1st-2nd, 6th-8th, and 14th-16th — $140 per day
- December — Cheapest dates: December 3rd, from the 7th-8th, 12th-15th, and the 18th-20th — $149 per day

Disney Genie+
Another increase you’ll want to plan for is Disney Genie+, which you can almost think of as a quiet price increase to plan for with the cost of your ticket.
While Disney Genie+ is meant to be bought day-of at the parks, the way it’s prices also changed in 2022. While previously Disney Genie+ was a flat rate of $15 per person, per day, now that has changed to flexible pricing.
What that means is the cost of Genie+ will change depending on the time of year and how busy the parks are. For reference, during the holidays of 2022, we saw the cost of Genie+ raise as high as $29 per person, per day.
If you want to avoid the lines in Disney World, you’ll want to plan in the cost of Genie+ for each of your tickets. Additionally, you can choose to plan on buying any Individual Attraction Selections, which are a separate cost and will give you access to skipping the line at a limited number of attractions at each of the parks.

this is so wrong to charge higher prices on tickets depending on which theme park you wish to go to and upon which time of year or day you plan on going. it is also time to do away with the park reservation system. i believe people would like to go to walt disney world without the hassle of making reservations just to go and spend a day at a park. sometimes doing things the old way is better than the new
