10 Construction Changes From Disney World This Week

Who’s ready to see some BIG updates from Disney World?!

Magic Kingdom

It has been a BUSY few weeks in the parks with all the construction projects going on, and we’ve seen some massive changes, even during the holiday season. That’s why we’re rounding up all the construction updates that we saw in Disney World this week!

Magic Kingdom

At Magic Kingdom, we’ve got a little update on the TRON coaster! There’s one section of landscaping on the far left that’s still under construction, but for the most part, the front walkway leading up to the ride building is complete.

We also noticed this week that construction walls at Tomorrowland Light & Power Company were replaced with mobile hedges. We must be nearing the end!

We’re just a few months away from the ride’s opening and we couldn’t be more excited to see it complete!

EPCOT

In EPCOT, there were updates on a few different projects. Construction has picked back up in the blocked off section near Guest Relations in the front of the park. Dirt has been moved and it looks like they’re prepping this area for some kind of addition.

In the middle of the park, we noticed that a new orange scrim was installed on CommuniCore Hall. They’re making some progress with the structure of the giant building.

Over by Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, new trees were added to fit the tropical theme of the attraction. It wouldn’t be a Disney attraction without some greenery!

We also got our first look INSIDE the attraction a few days ago, thanks to an interview with an Imagineer. How exciting!

Hollywood Studios

Over at Hollywood Studios, we haven’t seen any big changes at Roundup Rodeo BBQ. The restaurant is still covered in scrim and scaffolding for the time being.

BUT…there was a big update in the exit queue of Toy Story Mania — we can see a building behind the construction walls! This is located directly adjacent to Woody’s Lunch Box. We’re interested to see what it becomes.

So far it’s just a cinder block structure, and you can’t see very much of it due to the large scrim.

Animal Kingdom

At Animal Kingdom, work is continuing in The Oasis, near the entrance of the park. One of the animal habitats has been under construction for a little while now.

Construction is making some progress that we can see, but no drastic changes have been spotted.

Disney Resorts

At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, construction slowed down during the holidays, but has picked back up in the new year. Crews were hard at work leveling the ground when we rode by on the monorail last week.

This section of the resort is set to become a new DVC building.

Disney Springs

And finally, we make a stop at Disney Springs, where a new restaurant is being built on the West Side. Summer House on the Lake is opening sometime this year, and this week there was a crane onsite to assist with construction.

Those are all the big updates we’ve got for you this week, but we’ll keep you updated as we spot more changes in the parks and resorts! There are a lot of projects that will be completed in the coming months.
