Southwest Airlines Flights Stabilize After Week of Cancellations

During a week that was supposed to be filled with high volumes of flights, one airline was actually canceling most of theirs.

Southwest Airlines

Southwest Airlines made headlines this week when it canceled thousands of flights during a time of peak travel.

After a turbulent week, it appears that Southwest Airlines are finally returning to normal operations. Earlier this week, CEO Bob Jordan released an apology video. In it, he also explained the company was working out its internal issues and hoped to be gradually getting back on schedule. According to Click Orlando, the airline reported less than 40 cancelations today, a massive change from the thousands of cancelations from earlier in the week.

Now that flight schedules are getting back on track, the company is working on making it up to passengers who faced difficulties this week due to the chaos.

Moving forward both Southwest and federal regulators are reviewing what caused this unprecedented system collapse to avoid any similar situations occurring again. In his apology video, Southwest’s CEO stated “This has impacted so many people, so many customers, over the holidays. It’s impacted our employees. And I’m extremely sorry for that.” While Southwest’s shares are still down on Wall Street, only time will tell what the long-term effects of this situation will be for the company.
