The last few weeks of the year are busy at Disneyland Resort.

Typically in the week between Christmas and New Year’s, Disneyland has had to close its gates due to the parks reaching capacity. This year, however, things are a little different.
According to The Orange County Register, Disneyland doesn’t plan on having swarms of crowds at the parks this week as a result of a total annual passholder blockout and the required advanced reservation system.

Love it or hate it, Disney has had the reservation system in place since the parks reopened after the COVID-19 closures. This means that Disney won’t be closing their gates to walk-up visitors the way they typically do this time of year, as they will be controlling the number of people allowed in the parks each day with the reservation system instead.
Also contributing to the lessening of crowds is the passholder blockout. If you were lucky enough to grab a Magic Key Pass during one of the few times they’ve gone on sale, unfortunately, you won’t be able to get into the parks this way this week. There is a total passholder blockout between Christmas and New Year’s.
