An Inside Look at the TRON Coaster & More Disney Updates You Missed!

If you were busy opening your Christmas presents this morning or just otherwise occupied walking the dog, making breakfast, etc. you may have totally missed some BIG Disney moments!

We’ve already taken you along to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, EPCOT’s International Festival of Holidays, and the release of tons of holiday merchandise this season. But this morning Disney celebrated Christmas Day in a big way — with Disney’s Magical Christmas Day Parade. During the parade, we got a sneak peek at the TRON coaster coming to Magic Kingdom, a teaser for a new Marvel movie, and more. Let’s take a look at what you missed!

During the parade, there was a special performance by David Foster and Katharine McPhee.

Il Volo was also on hand to participate in the festivities.

And we got to hear from Meghan Trainor!

Plus, the Black Eyed Peas brought some Christmas cheer.

The event was hosted by Derek Hough and Julianne Hough (who we had seen filming at Disney World earlier in the year).

During the program, we also got a look at TRON Lightcycle Run and its queue! A first look had already been shared during Good Morning America (earlier in the day) but the parade brought us another view of the upcoming attraction.

During the parade, we heard from Imagineer Chris Beatty.

He shared that they are in the testing phase for TRON.

As the special continued, we got a glimpse of the loading platform…

…the ride vehicles…

…and those glowing wheels!

Plus, we got to see a bit of the launch sequence, which takes the vehicles past some special effects…

…and onto the outdoor portion of the track.

The coaster isn’t set to open until the spring of 2023, but we can’t wait to see it fully in action.

Back to the parade — Trevor Jackson entertained us from Disney Cruise Line.

We even got a special look at Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania straight from some of the movie’s stars!

The teaser seemed to be made up primarily of scenes already teased by Disney.

This new film will hit theaters in 2023.

And of course, throughout the morning we got to catch some of that magical Disney Christmas Day parade, as promised!
