Guests STUCK on Thunder Mountain as the Ride CLOSES Unexpectedly in Disney World

If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom before, you may have attempted the “mountain challenge” — hopping on all of Disney World’s signature “mountain” rides — Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, and Space Mountain.

But if you were to attempt the mountain challenge right now you might have some big problems!

As we made our way around Magic Kingdom on the reopened Walt Disney World Railroad we got some great views of various parts of the park (including TRON!). But along our journey we were also met with a unique view — guests seemingly stuck on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!

When we checked the My Disney Experience app a little later (around 12PM) we saw that Big Thunder Mountain Railroad still appeared as “temporarily closed.”

At the time, other rides were listed as “temporarily closed.” Just a few moments later, that list was reduced just a bit as the Carrousel reopened.

If you’re in the park right now, be sure to check back on the My Disney Experience app throughout the day to see if the ride reopens. What should you do if you encounter an unexpected closure like this in the parks? Well, we have some tips:

Listen to all Cast Member instructions if you end up “stuck” on a ride that requires an evacuation
Check the My Disney Experience app for updates as to when the ride reopens
Try to hit those must-do rides early in the morning so you can avoid potential complications of unexpected closures that take place later in the day
Come up with a Plan B so you can still keep the family happy and entertained despite a big ride going down
