How to Get One of the Most UNIQUE Souvenirs in Disney World

There is just SO much to do in Disney World during the holiday season.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

From visiting giant gingerbread houses at the resorts to having a holiday meal with Mickey, Minnie, and friends to checking out the Christmas Tree Stroll in Disney Springs, you’re bound to find some fun activities. But there’s one UNIQUE activity hiding at one of Disney World’s hotels!

There’s a special activity at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge where you can use an ostrich egg to make an ornament!

The Ostrich eggs

Because there are no male ostriches at Animal Kingdom or at Animal Kingdom Lodge, the eggs remain unfertilized and then go unused by the female ostriches who lay them.

Once the eggs are cleaned, they are crushed and colorfully dyed.

Here’s where you come in — you can pick an animal shape to glue those egg pieces into a mosaic piece to make an ornament. Then you’re given a piece of recycled telephone wire to finish off the ornament.

When you’re done, you’ll have a unique souvenir to take home and hang on your Christmas tree.

Guests can participate by visiting the recreation clubhouses at Jambo House from 11AM to 9PM and Kidani Village from 10AM to 10PM until December 31st.

This activity does require a donation of $5 or more, with proceeds going directly to Disney’s Worldwide Conservation Fund!

This is something that has been offered in Disney World in the past, so we’re excited to see it has returned.
