Brandy to Reprise Her Role as Cinderella in New Disney+ ‘Descendants’ Sequel

If you’ve ever seen a Descendants movie, you’ve probably walked away singing one of its very catchy songs.

Disney’s Descendants series tells the stories of the children of Disney Villains who end up as students in the Kingdom of Auradon, where many of your favorite Disney characters reside. There have been three different movies released so far and they’re not done yet — and we just got some casting info about the next addition to the series!

Back in May, Disney announced that the fourth film in the Descendants series was in the works with a working title of The Pocketwatch. This film was said to star Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Chloe, the daughter of Prince Charming and Cinderella, along with a number of other characters.

Disney+ just announced that Brandy will be playing the role of Cinderella, a return to her 1997 role in Rogers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, and Rita Ora will be playing the Queen of Hearts.

Previously announced cast members include China Ann McClain returning as Uma, the daughter of Ursula, Kylie Cantrall as Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts, and Dara Renee as Ulyana, the younger sister of Ursula.

Malia Baker will play Chloe, the daughter of Cinderella and Prince Charming, Ruby Rose Turner will play Bridget/Young Queen of Hearts, and Morgan Dudley will play Ella/Young Cinderella.

Also, Joshua Colley will be playing Hook, while Melanie Paxson will return to her role as the Fairy Godmother.

The story of The Pocketwatch will reportedly return to past Descendants settings such as Auradon and the Isle of the Lost but will add Wonderland to the mix. Characters Red and Chloe must travel back in time to save Auradon from a coup, using the Mad Hatter’s son’s magical pocket watch.

The Pocketwatch will be directed by Jennifer Phang, with the script written by Dan Frey and Russel Sommer. We’ll be watching for more updates regarding this new project!
