It Just Got CHEAPER to Skip Security Lines at the Airport

We know — travel is not cheap right now.

Gas prices in Florida just saw an increase recently and airline CEOs warn that flight prices are not getting cheaper anytime soon. BUT one aspect of travel did just go down in price and it will help you skip the lines at airport security!

The TSA (Transportation Security Administration) posted a press release with new information about the cost of TSA PreCheck. It says that the “current enrollment provider, IDEMIA, has reduced enrollment and in-person renewal fee from $85 to $78.”

If you travel a lot or don’t want to deal with the hassle of regular security lines, you can purchase TSA PreCheck so that you get it every time you travel for 5 years. To get PreCheck, you will submit an application and the TSA uses that to  “conduct a security threat assessment.” If approved, you will receive a Known Traveler Number that you can add to each individual flight that you book.

If you are renewing your PreCheck online, the price hasn’t changed for that — it’s still $70.

TSA Administrator David Pekoske said, ““For individuals and families with plans to fly this holiday season, now is the time to enroll or renew in TSA PreCheck.” He also pointed out the benefits like “less physical contact, fewer items on the conveyor belt and faster screening.”
