Big Changes at Disney World’s Tron Coaster, ‘Moana’ Attraction, and More!

It’s an exciting time to visit Disney World!

Cinderella Castle

We’ve got Halloween approaching fast, followed by the kickoff of the holiday season shortly after that. The parks are crowded with guests wanting to experience all the limited-time offerings. But there’s also a lot going on behind the scenes, namely with all the construction projects. Let’s take a look at some of that construction progress, shall we?

Magic Kingdom

Let’s start things out like usual at the TRON coaster in Magic Kingdom. This week, spaces between the various concrete pads were filled in, and trees were added around the building for landscaping. How exciting!

TRON coaster updates

Next door we have Tomorrowland Light & Power Co, where work continues on the pathway that leads to the TRON coaster. We’ve seen some changes with the concrete work on the outside of the building recently.

We can’t wait to see all these projects completed in the spring!

EPCOT

At EPCOT, Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana saw a big addition this week — some greenery! The rockwork was recently all painted brown, and now faux greenery has been added to make it look more authentic.

The rest of World Celebration’s construction zone is making progress as well. We noticed some new machinery onsite this week, and more structures are going vertical now.

We’ve spotted significant progress on the building for what will likely become CommuniCore Hall. All these projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

Hollywood Studios

In Hollywood Studios, the main construction project we’re excited about is Roundup Rodeo BBQ. This new restaurant is set to open before the end of the year, but it’s still surrounded by construction walls and scaffolding.

Not much has changed here in the past week, but we’ll continue to keep watching for updates. Hopefully we’ll get to eat some yummy barbecue soon!

Animal Kingdom

In Animal Kingdom, the big mystery is — what’s going on over at DINOSAUR? The ride’s fountain and Iguanadon statue have been covered up by rolling hedges for weeks now.

Still covered up!

We haven’t spotted any construction crews over here, so any work must be happening when guests aren’t around. Maybe we’ll get some details soon!

Disney Hotels

Finally, we’re stopping at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort to take a glance at the construction on the new DVC villas. They’ve started to move more dirt around in preparation for the groundbreaking, and we are READY.

Those are all the big changes we noticed this week — we can’t wait to see these projects completed soon! If you’re traveling to Disney World soon, keep following AllEars for all the announcements of opening dates and construction news.
