MAJOR Ride Closures Impacted Disney World Yesterday

Let’s take a trip to Disney World to find out what the wait times are like!

October is a popular time to visit Disney World to check out all the Halloween decorations, stop by Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom, eat your way through the EPCOT for the Food & Wine Festival, or just enjoy the slightly cooler Florida weather. Wait times have been increasing accordingly. Just how bad are they and what should you expect? Let’s take a look at yesterday’s wait times to find out!

Before we get into the wait times, we recommend keeping an eye on your favorite rides. If you’re able to identify that all your favorites have HIGH wait times, then you may want to start researching whether Genie+ might work for you during your trip. (We’ll get into that in a bit.)

You might also notice when your favorite rides have the lowest wait times, which can change how you strategize for your day. You can take advantage of trends by running to a ride first thing in the morning or waiting to get in line during the fireworks if you see that the rides you want to get on have low wait times during those hours.

But if you just want an easy way to skip standby lines, Genie+ gets you access to Lightning Lanes, which tend to have much shorter wait times. Genie+ now costs $15 to $22 per person, per day in October (prices are subject to change beyond that), so it will set you back a bit, which is another thing to consider. Pay-per-ride is another option that might work for you, depending on which rides you love the most.

If you look below you’ll see the ride wait times listed hour by hour in each Disney World park for October 17th, 2022.

Another thing you’ll want to pay attention to is the “temporarily closed” designation listed next to certain rides. Rides can close temporarily for many reasons (weather, technical issues, etc.), and yesterday it looks like a LOT of rides encountered some problems during the day. We actually individually reported that both the Country Bears Jamboree and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance were temporarily closed on the 17th, but there were many others that joined that list.

If a ride closes, be sure to check the My Disney Experience app for updates as to when the rides reopen. You can also ask a nearby Cast Member for information about a potential reopening time. It’s a good idea to come up with a “plan b” as well so you can have some flexibility if your must-do rides unexpectedly close.
