Fantasmic! Has a Reopening Plan…So What’s Still CLOSED in Disney World?

The Disney World parks and hotels are changing all the time, with updates coming to the rides, rooms, and restaurants.

If you’re heading to The Most Magical Place on Earth soon, you’ll need to know which of those changes are happening and what’s CLOSED because of them. Don’t worry — we’re here to help! Here’s a complete list of what’s going to be temporarily closed from October 16th through the 22nd.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Walt Disney World Railroad

The popular Walt Disney World Railroad is continuing its years-long closure in Magic Kingdom.

We’ve seen some updates on this project, such as new railroad tracks added to the tunnel over in Tomorrowland. However, it may still be a while before this attraction reopens. Construction won’t be finished on TRON: Lightcycle Run until next spring, and that site has interrupted the tracks of the railroad. So, it’s possible that the railroad will be closed until TRON is finished.

We’ll keep an eye out for updates from Disney and let you know as soon as we hear anything!

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

In Tomorrowland, the Light & Power Co. gift shop (the one at the end of the Space Mountain ride) is still closed. Disney hasn’t announced when it will reopen.

When we peeked inside (you can see inside from the PeopleMover), it looked like the space was pretty gutted. Guests are being directed to exit Space Mountain through a different door rather than through this shop.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle was where guests could interact with Belle and help her tell the story of Beauty and the Beast. This attraction is still closed, and Disney hasn’t said when it could reopen.

However, sometimes Belle can be found greeting guests in this area, so keep an eye out when you visit!

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Speaking of character meet-and-greets, another location is closed in this park: Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Storybook Circus. This used to be where Daisy, Minnie, Goofy, and Donald were greeting people in their circus performer outfits.

Disney has said that this location will reopen “in the coming months,” so we’re keeping a close watch to see when the characters finally return.

Meet Ariel at Her Grotto

Finally (for Magic Kingdom, at least), Ariel’s Grotto is also closed. You can’t meet the Little Mermaid here, but you can still visit Under the Sea — Journey of the Little Mermaid (a nearby omnimover attraction).

Disney hasn’t given a reopening date for this character meet-and-greet location.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

Fantasmic!

BIG NEWS: Disney announced that Fantasmic! will return in November 2022! That’s next month, people!

We can’t wait to see this show return to Hollywood Studios. We’ll be sure to let you know which exact date it’ll return when Disney announces it.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This Little Mermaid stage show has been closed for a long time, and Disney still hasn’t announced when or if it’ll return.

For now, you’ll have to visit Magic Kingdom to see find a Little Mermaid-themed attraction.

EPCOT Closures

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

The theater for the Canada Far & Wide film has been taken over by an EPCOT Food & Wine Festival booth! The booth serves up an apple tart and some apple-flavored drinks.

We’re expecting the Far & Wide film to resume playing after the festival ends on November 19th.

The American Adventure Pavilion

Continuing around World Showcase, you’ll find that another entertainment offering is also missing: the American Adventure pavilion show. Luckily, there are approximately 80 plants in front of the theater so you can definitely tell that it’s closed. ?

Disney hasn’t announced when the show will return, but a Cast Member told us that the closure was for routine refurbishments on the animatronics.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open right now, but their Blizzard Beach water park is still closed.

Disney hasn’t given any details about when Blizzard Beach will reopen.
