NEWS: CDC Ends Country-Specific COVID-19 Travel Advisories

As the situation with COVID-19 continues to change and develop, AllEars will be bringing you the latest relevant news that could affect a theme park visit.

COVID-19 has continued to affect many aspects of life around the world.

But, things have been changing over the past several months. President Biden said that the pandemic is over, causing the warning language to be removed from things like Disney’s websites. We’ve also seen various travel advisories for different countries due to the risk of COVID-19, but now, the way those are monitored is changing.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is no longer keeping a list of country-by-country COVID-19 travel advisories, according to CNN.

As fewer countries are testing or reporting Covid-19 cases, CDC’s ability to accurately assess the Covid-19 THN [Travel Health Notice] levels for most destinations that American travelers visit is limited,” said an agency spokesperson in a statement to CNN Travel.

Now, if there is a concerning COVID-19 variant or another situation that would change the CDC’s travel recommendation, there will only be a notice posted for the country.

But, the CDC did say that no matter where you’re traveling to, international travelers should stay up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccinations as well as following CDC guidance for international travel. Remember, being up to date on your COVID-19 vaccinations means having all doses as well as any boosters you are eligible for.

U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents of the U.S. no longer have to show negative COVID-19 tests to travel into the country, but the CDC still says you should test before boarding your flight back to the U.S. and you shouldn’t travel if you are sick.

Before now, the CDC was keeping a list of countries with High, Moderate, and Low risk factors when it came to COVID-19. Countries were moved around regularly on the list, and it’s important to note that before now, over half of all of the countries monitored were in the high risk category.
