Hurricane Ian has impacted much of Florida and beyond, but just because the storm has passed doesn’t mean that we’re out of the woods just yet.

We’ve taken a look at what Disney World looks like after a hurricane, and have kept up with the latest reopening news for Universal Orlando and Orlando International Airport. But now, Orlando residents are being urged to limit water usage after Hurricane Ian damaged an important part of the city’s infrastructure — here’s what you need to know.
We’ve been keeping up with the aftermath of Hurricane Ian, and now the City of Orlando has issued a water advisory for residents after the city’s sanitary sewer sustained damage in the storm. Originally, the advisory was only in effect until 2PM on October 2nd, but the advisory has been extended by the city until further notice.

Due to sanitary sewer damage from Hurricane Ian, the City of Orlando is issuing an immediate water usage advisory as wastewater staff are conducting emergency repairs to return sewer service. (1/5)— City of Orlando (@citybeautiful) October 2, 2022
It’s important to note, this is not a water boil advisory but a water usage advisory instead.

So, if you’re an Orlando resident, it’s important that you limit flushing toilets, doing laundry, washing dishes, showering, and using irrigation systems until the repairs are completed.
**Continue to Limit Water Usage**

Progress on emergency repairs to the sanitary system continues to be made by our Public Works staff. Although we are no longer asking the community to limit water use, please be mindful of your water consumption to prevent treatment plants from being overwhelmed. pic.twitter.com/QVcbx1JBrv
