PHOTOS: MAJOR Construction Progress on TRON Coaster in Disney World

If you’ve been to Magic Kingdom in Disney World lately, you’ve probably noticed some construction.

TRON

Actually, you’ve probably noticed it if you’ve visited in the past few years, because it’s been going on for that long! Do you know what we’re talking about? Yep, TRON Lightcycle Run. The ride has been in the works for over 4 years now, and we still don’t have an opening date. But, there has been a TON of progress, so let’s take a look at the most recent construction that’s been going on!

TRON has been coming along, with a little bit more construction done each time we hop on the PeopleMover in Tomorrowland to take a look. What we noticed recently was the there are some more walls around what seems to be the entrance!

TRON Update

Take a look at those wavy concrete structures. They’re going up fast!

That was quick!

As you can see, it’s still a work in progress, but there are definitely more structures in place now than there were a few weeks ago.

Wow!

We even started seeing the entrance take on some more shape! It looks very defined now.

Hmm, what’s going on?

There’s not as much machinery on the site, it almost looks as if the ground has been leveled and is ready for some concrete.

Not a ton of machines

Look how tidy it is!

We’re seeing a lot of progress

There are still no proper railings on the walkway up to the ride.

Moving along!

There also seems to be a lot of people working up underneath the structure.

Working away

It’s looking pretty good if you ask us!

TRON Construction

The other day, there were some medal rods set up in a formation on the ground…

…and before we knew it, concrete was poured!

Concrete!

It’s looking like that wall on the right could be some sort of bench.

Seating is always welcome

We have also noticed more testing on the ride, which is very exciting! Could this mean an opening date is in sight? We’ll have to wait and see.

TRON is testing!

Also note that due to construction, Tomorrowland Light and Power Co. is temporarily closed. This is the store you exit out of when you get off of Space Mountain. There’s a temporary exit at the moment.

Closed for now

We’re hoping to hear more about TRON soon (like possibly some type of opening timeline at D23 Expo?!), so we’ll keep you updated on any news that’s announced!
