We’re at the FIRST Night of Disney’s Oogie Boogie Bash — Follow Along!

It’s spooky season and Disney is ready to party!

It’s Oogie Boogie Bash time!

We’ve already told you all about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party over at Disney World, but now it’s time to head to Disneyland for more festivities. Tonight is the first night of Oogie Boogie Bash at Disney’s California Adventure park and we’re bringing you along with us to check everything out — let’s go!

Before we get started, let’s talk about what Oogie Boogie Bash is. This is a separately ticketed after hours event, so you don’t need a normal park ticket to go to the party — just a ticket to the party. It takes place on 24 select nights from now until Halloween, with tickets ranging from $129 to $179, and unfortunately, it is completely sold out!

Sold out on the first night…and all the other nights!

This event has limited tickets, so there are typically way lower wait times for attractions as well as access to exclusive entertainment offerings, merchandise, and food. Now, let’s go to the party!

Getting Started

If you have a ticket to Oogie Boogie Bash, you can enter Disney California Adventure park starting at 3PM the day of the party without having a park reservation. The party officially starts at 6PM and goes until 11PM.

The crowds weren’t bad at the entrance when we arrived, so it was fairly easy to get in!

We arrived right on time and headed inside, where we were greeted by Cast Members handing out the evening’s complimentary treat bags. We’re ready to collect LOTS of candy tonight!

Let’s get a map!

This year’s bags are themed to Hocus Pocus 2 and feature the movie’s poster on one side…

…with a Disney+ advertisement on the back. They’re a substantial size and they’re reusable.

We can’t wait to see what candy we can get this evening!

But what about this year’s event map? Well, it has all the details that you need to have a successful and fun-filled evening at Oogie Boogie Bash!

In addition to the map with marked locations for photo ops and other offerings, the guide also includes details on the evening’s entertainment.

Entertainment details!

If you’re already inside the park when the party starts, simply head to one of the check-in locations around California Adventure. We spotted one near Cars Land where event attendees could get their wristbands.

Party check-in area

Every guest who purchases tickets to the party will need to pick up a wristband before the party starts — either at the entrance or one of these stations. That’s how Disney differentiates the party guests from the daytime guests.

So now that we’ve got the basics out of the way, let’s do some shopping!

Merchandise

This year’s party comes with some awesome event-exclusive merchandise, and we’ve got the details on ALL of it. First up is the Oogie Boogie Bash sweatshirt for $59.99. It’s not quite cool here in Cali yet, but this will be great on those chilly nights!

Of course, we’ve got to have a party t-shirt featuring Oogie Boogie himself! This one is $36.99.

We’re willing to bet that the Oogie Boogie Bash 2022 Villains Tumbler will be quite popular! You can grab one for $34.99.

Look at all those villains!

Or if you’re looking for a cup to match the tee, then get this Oogie Boogie Cup for $24.99.

Finally, we have to mention the pins! There are three new individual designs this year (exclusive to the party), as well as a mystery box. Lots to collect!

Treat Trails

Looking to score some candy? If so, you’ll want to head to the themed treat trails around the park to fill those bags. And along the way, you might get the chance to see some pretty cool characters. At our first treat trail of the night, we came face to…umm, skull (??) with Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco!

Ernesto de la Cruz

He has an INCREDIBLY cool look — just check out that skeleton-white outfit! He sings and talks to the crowd below as you make your way through the line.

The Man, The Myth, The…Villain

Returning this year is a popular treat trail from 2021 that features Sid from Toy Story! That evil toy-mutilating kid is here in the flesh, and his set looks just as devious as he is.

Sid is here!

We also ran into Maleficent — the mistress of all evil! She’s a pretty common Disney villain to see at these kinds of things, but that doesn’t make us any less excited to visit with her.

Wouldn’t be a party without Maleficent!

Also returning this year is the Agatha Harkness treat trail. She was incredibly popular last year after the release of WandaVision on Disney+!

It was Agatha all along!

She looks incredible as well!

Besides Ernesto, another villain that’s new to the treat trails this year is Mother Gothel from Tangled. Isn’t she intimidating?!

The final new treat trail features a VERY rare character — Madam Mim from The Sword in the Stone. We don’t see her often, so definitely stop by and say hello!

If you loved last year’s live-action Cruella movie, then you’ll be happy to know that Cruella herself is back on the treat trail this year. She’s looking fashionable as always!

Cruella is back!

And of course, we had to pay a visit to the guest of honor — Oogie Boogie! His treat trail is usually pretty popular.

He’s kinda spooky.

Awesome character interactions AND delicious candy? You can’t ask for more from these treat trails!

Characters

Outside of the treat trails, there are several character meet and greets stationed throughout the park. One of the most popular ones this year is Bruno from Encanto! This is his debut in the theme parks, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to see him here.

Remy and Emile from Ratatouille made an appearance at Pixar Pier. It’s so fun to watch them interact with each other!

Hey guys!

Over in Cars Land, they’re getting in the spirit of the season as well! We spotted Red the Firetruck dressed up in a rather festive clown costume for photo ops.

Red the Firetruck!

We also ran into Mickey Mouse…all dressed up in Kingdom Hearts garb! How unique!

Kingdom Hearts Mickey

If you’re hoping to meet Mickey’s lady instead, then you’re in for a treat! Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, and Clarabelle Cow have their own separate meet and greet where they’re dressed up as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus.

It’s the “Sanderson Sisters!”

We have to say — those costumes are SPECTACULAR!

Entertainment

Frightfully Fun Parade

It wouldn’t be a Halloween party without some entertainment, now would it?! One of the big highlights is the Frightfully Fun Parade, filled with not-so-spooky scenes and unique characters.

The parade happens twice a night at 7:45PM and 10PM. We caught the first show, and it was a blast!

The Haunted Mansion ballroom scene is a favorite of ours. It’s so cool to see the characters from the ride come to life!

If you’re planning to watch this parade, make sure to stake out your spot a little bit ahead of time — it was pretty busy during the first performance!

Mickey’s Trick and Treat

For even more family-friendly fun, check out this stage show at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land. Mickey and his friends come out to dance and sing multiple times a night.

You don’t want to miss this one — especially if you have kiddos!

Villains Grove

One thing that’s unique to Oogie Boogie Bash is the Villains Grove — a walkthrough experience located on the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail. During the party, this space comes to life with lights and projections themed to different Disney villains.

Entrance to Villains Grove

The line is usually pretty long to enter, but there’s a lot to see inside! It’s a fun activity to check out when you need a break between candy stops, characters, and entertainment.

Food

To top it all off, we’ve got a few party-exclusive snacks to share! First is the Peanut Candy Churro from the Redwood Creek Churro Cart. You’ll need to be a peanut butter fan to love this one!

Calling all Hercules fans! Don’t miss out on the Panic Churro (covered in blue sugar and raspberry popping candy) for $5.75.

If you’re into something a bit more intense, try out the Pain Churro instead! It’s strawberry-flavored with hints of Ghost Pepper. Yowza!
