Are you headed to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando this year?

We’ve been following along with what haunted houses and scare zones will be at the event this year, as well as what merchandise you can grab for yourself. But if you attended the event last year and will be attending again this year, you’ll notice one BIG difference.
According to Orlando Sentinel, there will be no plastic dividers between the performers/scare actors and guests at this year’s event. In 2020 and 2021, plastic dividers were used to limit the spread of COVID-19, but the dividers will be gone this year as the event is returning to its more “normal” operations.
Last year, the barriers were placed in areas where the performers would get in close contact with crowds of guests in the narrow corridors that exist in some of the haunted houses. This year, those barriers will be gone.

Last year, face coverings were mandated for all Halloween Horror Nights workers, whereas they are optional for event employees this year. The annual Halloween haunt, which draws thousands every year, begins this Friday night.

If you’re not into scary events, note that Halloween Horror Nights only happen on select evenings and are a separately ticketed event, so during the day and on nights when the event isn’t happening, you can experience the parks with no additional scares. Looking to celebrate Halloween with an after-hours party that isn’t so spooky? You can also head over to Disney to experience their Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party instead. We’ve got a FULL FAQ post here, answering all your questions, or you can click here to see videos and photos from our experience at the first Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party night.
