BIG Changes in EPCOT and Other Disney World Construction Updates

It’s a BUSY season for Disney World right now!

Cinderella Castle

Guests are taking their final vacations of the summer, the Halloween celebrations are kicking off in the parks, and there are lots of ongoing construction projects all around the property. And if you’re hoping to stay updated on those projects, we’re sharing the latest details you need to know!

Magic Kingdom

Starting out, as usual, in Magic Kingdom, we’ve got some updates on the TRON coaster. A wall around the attraction area has started to take form, separating the path of the Walt Disney World Railroad from the path of the ride’s entrance. Significant progress on this project has been made in the last week alone.

TRON Update

Work is still being done over on Center Street at the front of the park. Crews are preparing to lay new brickwork in the road, and walls are still blocking much of the pathway.

Center Street Construction

There’s not much else happening in Magic Kingdom construction-wise, but we’ll continue to check back for updates.

EPCOT

However, there’s a LOT going on in EPCOT right now! First up, we got a look at the progress on the World Celebration/World Nature section of the park, and things are coming along fairly quickly! It looks a little bit different each week.

Lots of progress!

The Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana attraction is taking shape steadily, with new theming elements and rockwork added. Some parts of the attraction are getting to be pretty tall — visible over the construction walls.

Things are moving along quickly.

Over in the World Showcase, Mitsukoshi in the Japan Pavilion is still under construction, but the tarps have moved yet again. This week, the left side of the store is being worked on, and areas that were previously blocked are now uncovered again.

Construction has moved around in here.

Next to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind building, there’s a gate that leads backstage. This week, new theming was added to the gate to make it fit the surrounding area.

They updated the gate!

And speaking of Guardians — we noticed a LOT of construction happening behind the building, near the parking lot. A large crew was working out there to move dirt and level the land. We’ll be watching to see what changes in this area.

Lots going on in the parking lot.

But that’s not all the work that was happening in the parking lot! The Create lot was blocked off to guests this week as new pavement was laid.

The Create Lot got paved!

We’ll keep checking back in EPCOT to see more!

Disney World Hotels

Last but not least, let’s chat about the hotels! Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is still under construction as Disney prepares to build a new DVC tower here. Not much has changed in the past few weeks.

No big changes yet.

But over at the BoardWalk, a new sign has gone up for BoardWalk Deli — the new restaurant set to open soon. We’re excited to stop by for the grand opening!

The new sign is here!

And those are all the updates and changes that we spotted in the last week! Stay tuned to AllEars for more news on all the ongoing projects in Disney World.

With the opening of BoardWalk Deli, the TRON coaster, Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana, and the rest of the EPCOT transformation on the horizon, we have a lot to look forward to. We’ll keep you updated with the completion of each of these new projects!
