9 CLOSURES Could Affect Your Next Disney World Trip

If you’re visiting Disney World this week, you might be looking forward to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster, or all of the limited-time treats at Magic Kingdom. There’s a lot to enjoy in the parks right now, but there are a few closures to watch out for as well.

Closed!

Disney World usually has several projects going on at once with ride refurbishments and construction on new attractions. Those projects sometimes mean that existing attractions have to close for a while. So that you’re not caught unawares, check out this list of what’s going to be closed in Disney World this week, from August 14th through the 20th, 2022.

Magic Kingdom Closures

Walt Disney World Railroad

The Walt Disney World Railroad usually transports guests around Magic Kingdom, stopping at a few stations around the park. However, it’s been closed for a long time, and Disney still hasn’t announced when it will reopen.

But we’ve seen some good signs that it could reopen soon! The train has been spotted testing, and Cast Members were also recently training to operate the ride. Construction on the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster may still prevent the ride from opening for a while, but we’ll be on the lookout for new updates from Disney.

Tomorrowland Light & Power Co.

The Space Mountain gift shop is called Tomorrowland Light & Power Co., and — like the Walt Disney World Railroad — this location is also closed due to TRON: Lightcycle Run construction.

Closed!

Guests are being directed to exit Space Mountain a different way rather than through the gift shop. Disney hasn’t announced yet when the shop will reopen, but it looks like it could be closed until TRON construction wraps up.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

Enchanted Tales with Belle is also closed in Magic Kingdom, and Disney has given no update on when it could reopen.

Enchanted Tales with Belle

This attraction is where people could meet Belle and help her tell the story of Beauty and the Beast.

Pete’s Silly Sideshow

Another character meet-and-greet location is Pete’s Silly Sideshow. This spot is still closed, but Disney has promised that it will reopen “in the coming months.” That announcement was made a few months ago, so we’re expecting it to reopen any day now.

Previously, you could meet Donald, Daisy, Minnie, and Goofy at this spot. But right now, you can find Minnie at Town Square Theater with Mickey!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is SO CLOSE to reopening in Magic Kingdom. It’s scheduled to reopen on August 25th, and you can book your reservations NOW. We’ve already spotted Cast Member previews going on here, so they’re gearing up for its grand reopening soon!

Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort or Disney Springs — the August reopening is just for the Magic Kingdom location.

Although it’s not this week, keep in mind that the Liberty Square Riverboat is currently not showing hours from August 22nd through September 1st. Disney hasn’t made an announcement about this closure, but the ride’s webpage does not show opening hours on those dates.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios Closures

Fantasmic!

We’re hoping to hear news about a reopening date for Fantasmic! sometime soon. The upcoming D23 Expo in Anaheim (which takes place in September) could yield new information.

Fantasmic!

For now, we just know that this nighttime show will reopen sometime in 2022. We’re already halfway through August, which means the reopening can’t be too far away.

Voyage of the Little Mermaid

This show, which is all about The Little Mermaid, of course, is still closed in Hollywood Studios.

Disney hasn’t given any updates about when or if the show could reopen.

EPCOT Closures

Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360

Although Canada Far & Wide in CircleVision 360 is technically closed, it also kind of isn’t. We can explain: Instead of a movie playing inside the theater, you’ll find one of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival booths there!

Canada Far and Wide

At this location, you can try an apple crumble tart and check out the many apple-flavored drinks. It also has the advantage of being one of the only indoor festival booths — a huge perk on hot Orlando days. We’re expecting the movie attraction to resume playing once the festival ends on November 19th.

Disney Water Park Refurbishments

Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park

Blizzard Beach is currently closed, but you can still visit Typhoon Lagoon — Disney World’s OTHER water park.

Melt Away Bay at Blizzard Beach

Disney hasn’t given any announcements about when Blizzard Beach will reopen, but you can check out the latest updates on the park’s refurbishment here.

While you’re in Disney World, you can check out all the new Halloween offerings in Magic Kingdom. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is sold out for this week’s party dates, but even if you don’t have a ticket, you can see the decorations, shop for new merchandise, and try some of the limited-time snacks and treats.

Halloween in Magic Kingdom

If you’re celebrating the spooky season early from home, don’t forget to check out all kinds of new Halloween items online. We’ve spotted a Disney villain and Halloween collection from BaubleBar, plenty of Halloween costumes, and even new Haunted Mansion Minnie ears.
