No matter what time of year you plan your Disney World trip, chances are you’ll come across something new you hadn’t spotted on your last visit.

Between the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, new restaurants and attractions, 50th Anniversary Celebrations, and more — excitement is around every corner. If you don’t want to miss out, you’re in luck because we’re sharing all the important dates and BIG events happening in Disney World this August!
August 8th: Enchantment Showtimes Change
Get ready to be enchanted a little bit earlier each night, as Magic Kingdom is changing the showtimes for the nighttime fireworks show, Enchantment.

Starting on the 8th, you’ll be able to catch the show nightly at 9PM instead of 9:20PM.
August 9th, 15th, and 23rd: DVC Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon
Did you know that DVC Members receive all sorts of perks like special events? Moonlight Magic is a special event for DVC Members. This allows them to visit a Disney Park after hours with complimentary admission.

DVC Members can register for Moonlight Magic events at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park on three different dates in August — the 9th, 15th, and 23rd.

August 12th: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Begins
It’s the SPOOKIEST time of the year — well, almost! Disney World likes to get the Halloween season started early, and we are certainly not complaining. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will bring exclusive snacks, entertainment, ride overlays, and more to Magic Kingdom.

Guests can purchase tickets now for the event, which takes place on select nights between August 12th and October 31st.

August 12th: Minnie’s Halloween Dine Begins
We weren’t kidding when we said Disney likes to get the Halloween party started early — and the same is true for Minnie’s Halloween Dine at Hollywood & Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Beginning on August 12th, Minnie and all her cohorts will be dining with guests in their fanciest Halloween costumes — it’s a fun time we enjoy year after year!

August 12th and 13th: EPCOT Pin Trading Event
EPCOT is home to the 2022 Pin Celebration, this year called ONE Family! This is the perfect opportunity to gather with fellow pin-lovers and partake in special pin trading experiences.

Attendees can choose from two different packages, and registration is required. Note that this is a separately ticketed event and EPCOT admission will not grant you access.

August 15th: Kona Cafe Closes for Refurbishment
All good things must come to an end — even if just temporarily. Kona Cafe in Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will be closing for refurbishment on August 15th.

A reopening date hasn’t been announced yet, but in the meantime, you can still order food from Kona Island, Capt. Cook’s, or try to snag a table at ‘Ohana!

We’ve eaten our way around the 2022 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, or at least what was available so far! Additional booths will be opening up later in August including The Noodle Exchange, Hawaii, Mac & Eats, and more.

If you’ve already made your way around the festival, it’s time to think about another trip because there will be even MORE delicious dishes for you to try.

The United States Department of Defense will make its way to Disney World for the 2022 Warrior Games.

August 25th: Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Reopens
When Disney World began a phased reopening of the parks, not everything opened back up all at once. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique has remained closed since the pandemic, but that’s all changing on August 25th!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will finally be reopening in Magic Kingdom, so your little one can be transformed into a princess or prince.

August 28th: Hollywood & Vine Buffet Returns
Buffets didn’t return when Disney World reopened, either — at least not right away. Slowly but surely, we’ve seen a buffet return here and there. Hollywood & Vine is officially the next restaurant to restart buffet service.

We’re expecting delightful foods like Plant-based Roasted Mushroom Farro Risotto, Slow-roasted Crispy Pork Belly with Guava glaze, and Shrimp and Bacon Mac & Cheese. And for dessert, you can try the Mississippi Mud Pie or the PB&J Tarts.
