NEWS: Another Star Joins the Season 2 Cast of Marvel’s ‘Loki’

If you’re not, we suggest catching up soon, because there’s so much to see, and so much on the way! We recently saw the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, and the Disney+ Ms. Marvel series. Marvel has kept very busy this year with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Moon Knight both premiering this spring, and with She-Hulk and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever also slated for this year, things are just getting started. Season 2 of Loki recently started filming, and there’s been an update on casting!

Rafael Casal, best known for 2018’s Blindspotting, has joined the cast of Loki for its second season, according to Deadline. Before he was officially announced, photos of him on set with Tom Hiddleston (Loki) and Owen Wilson (Mobius) were leaked.

Marvel has not announced who he’s going to play yet, but it’s rumored that he could be playing Zaniac, a Thor villain from the 80’s who can make knives out of pure energy, and whose spirit possessed Jack the Ripper. As Jack the Ripper, he had run-ins with Shang-Chi, Thena from the Eternals, and even Captain America and Bucky, so this character might serve as a conduit to tie together some loose ends in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Loki is the first MCU show to get a second season, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead co-directing the bulk of the upcoming season 2, Tom Hiddleston and Michael Waldron (season 1’s showrunner) executive producing, and Eric Martin writing all 6 episodes.
