We’ve already heard about the Agatha Harkness series that is in development, She Hulk is coming to Disney+ soon, and there is a show all about Echo that is also in the works. But now Disney has revealed some details about another NEW Marvel project that is on the way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a NEW live-action Marvel series for Disney+ is being developed surrounding the character Wonder Man. The series comes from Destin Daniel Cretton (from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), who has partnered with Andrew Guest (a writer/producer fans may recognize from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Community).

Guest is set to serve as the head writer on the Wonder Man show, and Cretton will executive produce (and potentially direct an episode or two).

Development of the series is still in the early stages, but if things go forward, filming could begin in 2023.

If you’re not an avid reader of Marvel comics, you might be wondering…who is Wonder Man?! Well, he’s one of the oldest characters in the Marvel world and was first introduced in 1964.

At first, Wonder Man was a villain, but he was later “reconceived” as a hero and an Avenger.

Wonder Man was known as Simon Williams and ultimately became a “founding member of the Los Angeles-based West Coast Avengers.” He also became a bit of a celebrity because he had a day job as a stuntman and actor.

Wonder Man also developed some strong ties to two Marvel characters that have gotten a lot of love from Disney+ — Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Vision. Wonder Man developed some feelings for Wanda after Vision had been dismantled, and there were some stories that tied him and Vision as being somewhat akin to brothers.
