But if you’re looking for an experience that’s a little more thrilling while making a splash — Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park is where it’s at! Boasting intense water slides, a wave pool, and even a lazy river, Typhoon Lagoon is the perfect place to beat the heat and we’re sharing 5 fun details you probably never noticed about Disney’s oldest water park!

Crush ‘n’ Gusher is an old fruit processing plant

Have you ever noticed that when you pick up your raft before plunging down this 400-foot-long tube slide, it looks like an old wooden crate? Not only that, but the rafts are also labeled with the names of various fruit?

Well, that’s because Crush ‘n’ Gusher is housed in an abandoned fruit-processing plant! When you reach the top of the slide, you’re able to choose from 3 different “fruit chutes” — the Coconut Crusher, Banana Blaster, or Pineapple Plunger.

Don’t worry, you won’t actually be crushed nor gushed on this ride.

Leaning Palms is actually leaning

Typhoon Lagoon is home to multiple eating establishments, but you might notice that some are a little more worse-for-wear than others. Leaning Palms serves your typical park fare like burgers, hot dogs, and pizza out of a building that looks like it’s ready to collapse!

Of course, Disney designed the building this way, so you don’t actually need to worry about it imploding while you’re chowing down, but it’s a fun little detail that adds to the theming of the park!

There’s a Society of Explorers and Adventurers Ride

The Society of Explorers and Adventurers is a fictional society created by Imagineers to link attractions, characters, and films throughout Disney into one shared universe.

Miss Adventure Falls is a raft ride that’s centered on SEA Member Mary Oceaneer and her parrot, Duncan. Mary is a treasure hunter who is also responsible for the Oceaneer Labs found aboard Disney Cruise Line ships — how fitting!

Hidden Ice Gator

While Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park is closed for refurbishment, there’s still somewhere on property where you can spot the Blizzard Beach mascot, the Ice Gator! He is an alligator that got caught up in the blizzard that made Blizzard Beach what it is today, and he’s hiding at Typhoon Lagoon!

He can be found over near the area where you can take surf lessons!

Typhoon Lagoon is themed after a tropical paradise that has survived a typhoon, and there are different themed areas of the park as well. Depending on where you are in park you’ll hear different music that is supposed to be reminiscent of your surroundings.

For example, over near the shipyard you might hear some festive sea shanties, while over on the beach you can enjoy beach and surf rock oldies!
