Is a BIG Pool Expansion Coming Soon To a Disney World Hotel?

Disney World has announced a lot of hotel news over the past few weeks, but is it possible another major update is in the works?

Nope, we’re not talking about the Disney Vacation Club additions coming to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort or the changes coming to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort. In fact, there might be a BIG pool expansion coming to the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotel!

Swan and Dolphin might have big changes coming to the pool area (shared between the hotels and The Swan Reserve). Plans for the massive pool expansion were detailed in a recent permit filed with the South Florida Water Management District.

The permit details plans for a new pool area just past the Grotto Pool at the very end of Crescent Lake.

It would be just past the existing sand beach area which you can see in green here.

There are also plans to include a new playground on the other side of Grotto Pool in the corner of the property.

The plans appear to depict a large pool, smaller water activity pool, two water slides, a new paved patio, and a bathroom building.

Permits filed with the SFWMD typically still have a ways to go before the project can begin. The district handles environmental impacts so this expansion may have several rounds of approvals to get through.
