Why It Might Be Harder to Book a JetBlue Flight This Summer

Choosing an airline for your next Disney World trip is not an easy feat.

Airline prices going up

With airline prices increasing and lots of cancellations and delays in the airline industry recently, travel is pretty complicated right now, and if you’re currently trying to book a flight for this summer, one airline is not making it easier for you.

JetBlue Airways announced on Sunday that they will be reducing their summer schedule while they work on hiring more employees in an attempt to avoid frequent flight disruptions. Reuters reported that JetBlue has already cut its May capacity by 8-10%, and their plans for the summer are similar.

According to Reuters, JetBlue hired over 3,000 new employees in 2022, but the airline stated that “we remain staffing constrained, and these disruptions exacerbate an already challenging staffing situation.” On Sunday, JetBlue canceled 13% of flights and delayed 39% of flights.

Last week JetBlue made a bid to buy Spirit Airlines, despite the recent announcement of a Spirit and Frontier Airlines merger. Reuters reported that Spirit announced on Thursday that they will begin talks with JetBlue about the bid.
