You might have totally forgotten about this upcoming EPCOT attraction, but we’ve been keeping a close eye on its progress in the park.

EPCOT is undergoing a BIG transformation, with a few new attractions, some closures, and a whole lot of construction. If you’ve been inside the park in the last couple of years, you know that the construction walls almost create a maze in the World Celebration section. Today, we’re taking a look at what’s going on behind those walls!
If you hop on the EPCOT Monorail, you can get a great view of the construction happening behind the walls in this park. Today, we checked out the progress on EPCOT’s upcoming Moana: Journey of Water attraction.

In case you’re not familiar with this attraction, Disney has announced that it will include lush exploration trails and a lot of water features. The water will “come alive,” and guests can interact with the various features. It’s a walk-through experience with interactive elements based on the popular movie Moana. You might see a large rock at the entrance that has the Heart of Te Fiti symbol carved into it (based on some concept art we’ve seen from Disney).

We first heard about this attraction at the D23 Expo in 2019, and we still don’t have an opening date for it. So let’s see how things are looking at the construction site! It’s clear that this site is very busy right now, with several different projects going on in various areas. There’s a large concrete structure near the middle, with lots of dirt piled around it.

In fact, we saw several areas where dirt had been piled together to create different levels and hills. Disney may have wanted a more interesting landscape for the exploration trails, and they had to build their own hills! But it’s also possible that the workers just needed to get the dirt out of the way and it’ll be removed later on.

There’s another large concrete structure taking place near the front of this area, which almost looks like it’s underground because of all the dirt around it. And nearby, several construction workers were building an elevated area with a wooden frame.

We don’t know a lot about what will be in this attraction, but it’s cool to see the various structures taking shape! We’ll have to wait for a while longer before we can really see it all coming together.

Disney has not announced an opening date for Moana: Journey of Water yet, but we’ll keep an eye out and let you know as soon as we hear anything. Keep following AllEars for more of the latest Disney news!

Are you excited for the upcoming Moana attraction in Disney World? Let us know in the comments.
Nope. It’s not a ride and it’s not what Epcot needs. Basically, they need a Polynesia for their Food and Wine Festival—They are replacing all that is good about Epcot.
