VIDEO: Heavy Rain Caused Flash Flooding at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Yesterday

We’ve seen some pretty WILD weather in Disney World!

Rainy Day in Disney World

The Central Florida area is prone to hurricanes and excessive rain (especially in the summertime!), so we’ve spent many a soggy day in the theme parks. As the weather gets warmer, the rainy season will be coming back soon and yesterday, Disney World got a very severe introduction to spring!

Last night at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, heavy rain caused flash flooding in parts of the park. Right at the entrance area by Hollywood Boulevard, guests were wading ankle- and knee-deep in the water that had pooled up.

BBC Reporter Sara Thornton was there to capture the event on video and share it on Twitter. In the second video shared, some guests were even seen attempting to swim through the shallow water.

  1. This isn’t a rain issue it’s a rain water infrastructure issue. Disney needs to invest in dry flood proofing mitigation asap! Can’t be charging customers those prices to then be soaked wet in the end due to poor maintenance or lack of proper rain insfrastructure.

  2. That’s insane! I have seen times where there was some pretty substantial puddles, but never full walkways under 6+ inches of water like that! There had to be some sort of storm drain blockage or other failure for that to happen.
