The Star Wars hotel, known officially as the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, is a unique experience that has divided fans since the. moment it was announced.

We had the chance to experience this hotel’s unique and immersive 2-night stay, and our minds are still kind of reeling. It ultimately comes down to a few important factors that can significantly impact your stay — and whether you leave feeling like the high price tag was worth it.
Here’s why you might love or HATE the Star Wars hotel!
The whole point of the Star Wars hotel is to fully immerse guests in the world of Star Wars, and it’s far more involved than you might think. Guests have the opportunity to cultivate their own experiences via storylines, and what you do (or don’t do!) can change your entire adventure.
Immersion is What You Make of It
You get to decide how to dress, which characters to talk to, which interactions to do, which missions to complete, and much more. Basically, it’s choose your own adventure — Star Wars style.

There’s no denying, however, that this experience comes with a hefty PRICE tag. If you really want to make the most out of your (expensive) stay at the Star Wars hotel, you probably want to make the most of it and get fully immersed. That means lots of interactions with characters and completing missions — even if you were hoping to be more of a spectator.

During our stay, most people were also dressed in costume, so you might end up feeling a little out of place if you choose to wear regular clothes in a sea of costumes. It’s not required to dress up, but we saw guests in full Star Wars garb, and you might feel a little weird standing next to them in a Mickey t-shirt.

In the end, you can fully choose how you want to cultivate your Star Wars hotel experience in your own unique way, but you might not walk away satisfied unless you really get into it.
Small Group Activities
There are some exclusive experiences that only super small groups can partake in due to whether they get certain interactions that unlock these outcomes. That means if you don’t interact with a certain character, or complete a particular mission fully, you might miss out on an activity.

For example, we unlocked an incredible experience with Rey, and the only way to get this quest was by either being pulled by the Saja during lightsaber training or by completing Saja’s Quest on Batuu. This was a mission that seemingly showed up for all Star Wars hotel guests, but it also may seem from the outside to be one of the least exciting quests.

We ran all over Batuu to finish Saja’s Quest and retrieve a Jedi artifact to be returned to the Halcyon, and we were rewarded with an experience involving Rey and another very surprising and beloved Star Wars character. As far as we know, there is no other way to unlock this scene, and it was totally worth our journey in Batuu, even though we thought about skipping it!

We do wonder, however, whether this situation is sustainable once more hotel guests start unlocking these small experiences. When we exited the cargo room where we found Rey, there was another small group already waiting for their session.

Also, you might be worried about missing out on special experiences like this, especially if you feel determined to complete every single quest. This leads us to the next reason you will either love or hate the Star Wars hotel — because it’s not really possible to do absolutely everything.
You Can’t Do Everything in 2 Nights
You will most likely not be able to do every single story element on the Halcyon, which means you would ideally need to schedule another visit (or two…or three) to do everything. And when you’re paying a premium for this 2-night stay, it’s not entirely realistic for the majority of guests to be booking the unique experience multiple times.

You might also run into an odd situation within your group, in which one group member gets a storyline that other group members don’t. Depending on which characters you interact with and what missions you complete individually, it’s possible that everyone in your group could end up in different storylines. There are SO many directions each story can go.

There’s also a possibility that your story doesn’t go the way you were hoping, in which case you might end up in scenes you aren’t interested in. A Cast Member told us that if there’s something you really want to do or change about your experience, Crew Members can possibly help you out. Keep in mind though that nothing is guaranteed, so you could end up stuck.

Overall your experience on the Galactic Starcruiser is what you make it. If you are ready to be fully immersed in the storylines, and treat the experience as a choose-your-own-adventure, you are in for a unique and exciting Star Wars experience.
However, if you are someone who is an introvert and not looking to be heavily involved with the storyline, instead just wanting to enjoy the ship, you may find yourself bored. The main activities to do onboard involve various quests and story moments, so if you’re going to Disney World with the intention of riding rides and relaxing at the hotel, your money will almost certainly be better spent staying elsewhere.
