UPDATE: Spirit Airlines shared in a tweet that the technical issue has since been fixed.
The past few months have been pretty tumultuous for the airline industry!
Throughout the holiday season, we saw thousands of flights canceled, and the pandemic has affected travel in a variety of ways — from changing health and safety measures to staffing issues. And today, an IT problem is causing some major issues with one airline.
According to WESH 2 Orlando, Spirit Airlines has issued a temporary ground stop due to “technical difficulties impacting its website and other systems.” The announcement was made on the airline’s Facebook page this afternoon.
In the statement, Spirit shared that “We’re working with our partner to restore connectivity as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused our guests and will provide updates as we work toward resolving this issue.” If you have a Spirit Airlines flight planned for sometime soon, we recommend checking the status to see if you need to change your travel plans.
