NEWS: France Updates Travel Restrictions for U.K. Visitors

To ensure we are equipping our readers with all the information they need, we will continue to report on all travel, safety, and COVID-related news that could impact a Disney Parks visit.

The travel industry across the globe has been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic over the past two years with the Omicron variant causing many countries to implement additional travel restrictions in an effort to slow the spread most recently.

For example, in December 2021, the French government banned all nonessential travel to and from the United Kingdom, impacting many people with plans to visit Disneyland Paris. As a result, Disneyland Paris allowed these guests to temporarily reschedule or cancel reservations. However, now the travel restrictions have changed once again.

According to BBC News, France relaxed restrictions for travelers coming from the UK as of January 14th, 2022 allowing those who are fully vaccinated to travel into the country for nonessential reasons.

While a 48-hour isolation period used to be required upon arrival regardless of vaccination status, this has since been relaxed and now all that is needed to enter the country for those who are vaccinated is a negative COVID-19 test that was taken within 24 hours of leaving the UK.

Unvaccinated travelers on the other hand will have stricter travel requirements, needing to provide a “compelling reason” to visit France and self-isolate for 10 days upon arrival.

Travel is no longer restricted for UK residents

Approximately 17 million British nationals visit France annually, and some airlines have already reported an increase in bookings since the new travel guidelines were announced.

Plus, this means that Disneyland Paris can once again welcome guests from the UK — though there are still health and safety requirements in place. For example, according to Disney’s website, a Health Pass is required for guests ages 12 years and 2 months and up to visit and several other operations and experiences are currently modified.

These changes come just a few months before the 30th anniversary for Disneyland Paris is set to kick off on March 6th, 2022.
