Disney World has faced a few hiccups recently as we head into 2022!

Last week, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios faced multiple ride closures, crowds, and long lines, and one popular roller coaster has been closed on and off for multiple days in a row. And, it seems that there are still more unexpected issues impacting Disney World guests this week.
According to Fox 35 Orlando, a power outage reportedly impacted the monorail, ferryboats, and select Magic Kingdom area hotels for a short period of time in Disney World yesterday, January 4th, 2022.

Reports of the power outage came through social media early into the evening and Fox 35 spoke with a guest who was at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge when the shutdown occurred. They shared that the outage began around 6PM and lasted until just before 10PM.

Keep in mind that when an outage occurs at Disney World that shuts down the monorail or ferryboats, Disney provides alternate transportation to guests via buses. So, you won’t be stuck in the same place if you’re not already back at your final destination for the day.

Disney has not released a statement on what caused the power outage, however, this is a developing story so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!

I understand the monorail, how do the Resorts lose power? No back up generators? Especially with elevators running?
