Walt Disney Animated Studios has just announced their newest animated film coming in 2022!
This Disney film will be inspired by stories about journeys to a new world, and it will be led by some of the same Disney team members who worked on the Oscar-winning film Big Hero 6 and also Raya and the Last Dragon. Take a look at the concept art!
Disney’s newest animated film, Strange World, is currently scheduled to release on November 23rd, 2022. This film will be an original story about, according to Disney, an “action-adventure journey deep into an uncharted and treacherous land where fantastical creatures await the legendary Clades, a family of explorers whose differences threaten to topple their latest—and by far— most crucial mission.”
Disney has released concept art for Strange World, which will be a “nod to pulp magazines,” or popular forms of fiction printed on wood pulp paper in the early 1900s. This film is lead by Don Hall, who directed both Big Hero 6 and Raya and the Last Dragon, along with his co-director and writer Qui Nguyen, who co-wrote Raya and the Last Dragon. Roy Conli, who also worked on Big Hero 6 and Tangled, will produce.
Hall referenced inspiration from pulp magazines that were about explorers discovering hidden worlds and ancient creatures, so we’re excited to see how Strange World turns out! We’ll have to wait till November 23rd, 2022, so we’ll be watching out for more hints about the story in the future!
