Disney Genie is here, and one of Genie’s intriguing features is its integration of the Disability Access Service, or DAS.

DAS allows people with disabilities to opt-out of lines by requesting a return time for the attraction. The return time is calculated using the wait time of the Standby line and essentially allows users to wait out the line without having to stand in it.
Disney Genie has incorporated a couple of potentially useful features into My Disney Experience — and we’re telling you all about them.
Multiple Ways to Register for DAS (and Get Return Times Early!)
There are now two ways to register for DAS: in-person and online. For the in-person, you talk to a Cast Member at Guest Relations, get your picture taken, and get your first return time of the day.

For the online option, you speak with a Cast Member 2 to 30 days before your trip on a video chat. During this pre-registration process, you can also get two return times ahead of time for each day of your trip. You just choose two rides that you want for each day, and the Cast Member will give you a one-hour long return window for each attraction.
Get Return Times on Your Phone
With Disney Genie in full swing, you can now get your next DAS return time on your phone through the My Disney Experience app — as opposed to having to navigate to each attraction you want to experience to request a return time. This makes the whole process much easier and likely reduces backtracking for those using DAS. The self-selection tool also lets users choose their next return time as soon as they tap in for their current return time (as opposed to having to wait until the ride is over to travel to the next ride to get their next time).

You can still get return times at Guest Relations and in front of the rides, but the app is a new, convenient way to get those return times, too!

Be prepared to wait if you decide to try the new virtual chat. After waiting for 7 hours we made it past 1 of the 3 stages for pre-registration only to be disconnected when the line closed at 10PM EST.
Pleas know that it can take hours to register online. It took a member of my traveling party over 4 hours on hold to complete the process.
