This Magic Kingdom Change Certainly Isn’t “Number One”

If you’re a trivia buff, you probably know a lot of fun facts about Disney World.

Magic Kingdom

If you want to impress your friends and family at Disney World, you can point out things like hidden Mickeys, symbolism, and more, and one of the most well known Disney World trivia is regarding Liberty Square in Disney World. Whether you know what it is or not, you need to see what Disney World has done.

Liberty Square in Magic Kingdom is based on 18th century Colonial America, and if you know anything about that time period you know the colonists weren’t the best about disposing of…waste. Without indoor plumbing, the colonists would dispose of human waste in the streets, commonly leading to “rivers of sewage.”

Liberty Square

In an effort to present a historically accurate look, Liberty Square has brown pavement to represent sewage. Gross. There are also technically no bathrooms located in Liberty Square, so don’t drink too much water in the colonies.

Yes…that’s supposed to be sewage

Today we noticed an big change to the sewage river near the entrance to Fantasyland, where the brown pavement seems to have been replaced by a standard grey sidewalk color.

What’s going on?

It’s possible that this is a work in progress, or maybe it was a mistake? Maybe it’s just number two on Disney World’s to-do list (sorry). We’ll be watching this area closely for further changes.

See the difference?
