Disney Goes Through HOW Many Mickey Waffles a Day?!

Disney World is such a big and complicated place that it would take YEARS to learn everything about the parks!

There’s so much to learn about Disney World!

We’re constantly learning things about The Most Magical Place on Earth that surprise us, and we’ve been Disney “experts” for quite a while now. But we’re not ones to be stingy with our knowledge, so today we’re sharing some of our favorite (and most surprising) fun facts, secrets, and hidden details about Walt Disney World!

  • Disney World and Disneyland Resort serve more than 3.6 million Mickey waffles every year. If you divide that up, it’s nearly 10,000 Mickey waffles every day!

  • No in-park structure is more than 200ft tall. If they were, Disney would have to install a blinking red light on top. Expedition Everest is closest at 199.5ft tall. 
  • Disney is the largest purchaser of explosives in the U.S. behind the Department of Defense. They use over 1 million fireworks every year.

  • The king of Morocco sent over his personal artisans to do the tilework in the Morocco Pavilion at EPCOT.
  • There are spaces between the tiles on Spaceship Earth so that rainwater falls in the cracks. Inside is an intricate gutter system that drains the water under Future World and into World Showcase Lagoon. That’s why you don’t get wet standing under Spaceship Earth!

  • Disney World and Disneyland Resort sell more than 1.6 million turkey legs each year. That’s more than 4,000 every day!
  • Disney World guests eat so much popcorn every year that it could fill the Tower of Terror. Or 1.5 Olympic-sized pools. 
That’s a lot of popcorn!
  • You can’t buy gum anywhere on Disney property.
  • More than 3.3 million Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars are sold every year. 
  • No matter where you’re standing in the theme parks, you should be able to find a trash can within 30 steps of your location.

There’s only one real flag on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Walt Disney World resort is approximately the same size as San Francisco. That’s HUGE!
  • Magic Kingdom Park is actually built on the second floor. The Utilidor tunnels beneath the theme park are the first level and the park was built on top. As you enter the park, pay attention and you may notice a slight incline by the entrance. 
You’re actually walking uphill as you head inside the park!
  • The oldest ride at Disney World is the Prince Charming Regal Carrousel in Fantasyland. It’s over 100 years old!
  • Disney World admission originally cost less than a bottle of water does in the park today. Tickets were $3.50 on opening day!

  • The snowfall in the windows of Be Our Guest Restaurant is actually animation cells used in the original movie. 
  • The Tower of Terror was painted its specific color to match the skyline of the Morocco Pavilion in EPCOT. If you’re standing in World Showcase, you can see it blending in from the opposite side of the lagoon.

  • There’s a hidden Mickey in the Under the Sea queue that only shows up on Mickey Mouse’s birthday at noon. It’s formed by the position of the sun shining through the rock formations.
