Guests looking to ride Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios are required to obtain a virtual Boarding Group in order to ride. These Boarding Groups are made available twice per day, at 7AM and 1PM, and in the past, these Boarding Groups would be fully booked in a matter of seconds!

Recently, however, it has been rather easy to grab a Boarding Group, with availability so abundant that Disney World actually opened up the standby queue earlier this month. Whether you visit on a day where it’s easy or challenging to get a Boarding Group, a small update has been made on My Disney Experience that has seemed to automate part of the process.
The screen where you would “Create Your Party” has now been replaced by a “Review Details” screen that now shows auto-selected members of your party that are eligible to obtain a Boarding Group. Essentially, your entire party should now be pre-selected by My Disney Experience and “confirmed” automatically prior to joining the Virtual Queue. In the past, the screen would show members of your party with check boxes that you could either select or deselect.

When we tried this out for ourselves this afternoon, we saw the Review Details screen pop up with a new button called “Change Party,” where if you tapped on it would bring you to a different screen where you can modify eligible members of your group.

We can imagine that if you tap on “Change Party,” you could waste valuable seconds modifying your group — we would advise you not select “Change Party” and instead immediately proceed from the Review Details screen to joining the Virtual Queue. Otherwise, the process of getting a Boarding Group was the exact same as before!

We’ll be on the lookout for more changes to the Boarding Group system, but this should make it slightly easier for you to move quickly through the process to join the Virtual Queue.
There will soon be ANOTHER way to experience Rise of the Resistance without needing a Boarding Group — click here to learn more.

We were there this week and we got a boarding group two times we tried at 7 am. First group 11 and second time group 3. At the 1pm session sometimes I saw it open until 4.30 pm so definitely quieter at present. We used the world clock to countdown and followed all the available tips.
We were there in March. My daughter was extremely upset that we did not get to ride. We both tried at 7:30am and it was already full! Tried again at 1Pm and got as far as selecting your party but failed again.
Same with us. We ONLY chose that park to do that ride and there is nothing more frustrating than spending a fortune only to be disappointed. The groups were gone in less than 2 seconds.
We are at Hollywood Studios usually a minimum of 3 times a month since reopening since the closure, we have not missed a single time to go on Rise must be close to 40 times. Our highest boarding group has been 125 and our lowest has been 2. Every time we ride Rise it gets better each time
