BOO Bash Begins, Space 220 Details, and More Disney News You Missed This Week!

Hello to all our AllEars Readers. It’s been a week, right?

This is Halloween!

Halloween has officially started at Disney World (we always know when the decorations come out), and we’ve been covering a lot of Disney news this week, from Disney World to Disney+, and everything in between!

But just in case you missed the biggest Disney stories, we’re outlining the biggest news of the week.

After Hours Boo Bash

We were at the very first After Hours Boo Bash, covering everything from the food to the entertainment to the characters to the cavalcades. We took lots of photos, so be sure to check those out. But there was one big thing missing from the party…

We were surprised to see that Disney has not released any exclusive merchandise for Boo Bash. We’re used to seeing special Halloween merchandise for the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween party, so this surprised us. So that’s something to keep in mind if you have tickets to the event.

Disney+ Continues To Grow

During Disney’s Q3 Earnings Call, we learned that Disney+ has added even more subscribers to its base. Since its launch in 2019, we’ve watched the service continue to grow.

As of July 3rd, 2021, Disney+ has a base of 116 million subscribers, a change of 100% from this quarter last year, when there were only 57.5 million subscribers. We expect it will continue to grow with the release of more original content and premier access to day-one movies.

Space 220 News

It seems like we’ve been waiting forever for updates on the Space 220 Restaurant that’s coming to EPCOT. But Disney finally revealed an opening timeline — the restaurant is set to open by mid-September, only a month away.

We also got a few more details about what the dining experience will be like, along with what guests can expect from the menu.

First Disney World 50th Anniversary Merchandise Has Arrived

The first of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary merchandise has officially landed in stores at Disney World. The new pre-celebration collection matches the EARidescent color scheme, and will only be available for a limited time leading up to October 1st.

There’s new merchandise!

We spotted some new shirts, tumblers, MagicBands, hats, and pins — but a lot of it sold out fast. You can also get some of this new merchandise online (although we’ve noticed that a lot of the online merchandise has already sold out, too).

Theme Park Capacity And Attendance

Disney remains mum on just how many guests it’s allowing in the parks, but during the Q3 Earnings Call, we did get a bit of an update. Walt Disney Company CFO Christine McCarthy stated that attendance at Disney World was at or near daily capacity levels throughout the third quarter. We also learned that Disney World gradually increased its capacity during that time.

Recent crowds at Magic Kingdom

Disneyland’s capacity limits were also relaxed slightly after its parks reopened. On both coasts, theme park reservation levels for the future are strong. McCarthy said, “We will be increasing capacity as we see an increase in demand. It’s an ever-changing landscape with COVID and we’re going to be careful, but we’ll bring back capacity online but in a measured fashion.”

Summer Crowds Are Still in FULL Swing in Disney World

Those are the biggest Disney news stories for this week, but stay tuned because we will continue to keep you updated on all things Disney.
