EPCOT’s France Pavilion has been under construction for a while now as it prepares for the opening of the new ride, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure on October 1st.

Today, as part of a special Disney World media event, we got to go behind the walls to sneak a peek at the new pavilion and ride entrance!
We weren’t allowed to take pictures for the event, but we can tell you about what we saw! Right now, guests can come into the France pavilion (and use the new restrooms there), but there are construction walls closing off the left-hand turn into the new area.

When the walls come down and guests can enter this new space, they’ll be entering “Pixar’s Paris,” a new space that’s Ratatouille themed! Because of this, when you enter the world they are using a concept that Pixar has named “crookedology” — basically that means there are no 90-degree angles to be found in the area, and instead everything is just a bit crooked.
Pixar has named it as crookedology because when you digitize something, straight lines are very rigid, and in order to make them look straight in the films they need to always make them somewhat crooked. Pretty cool, right?

We also got to see beautiful details, like the Remy-themed manhole covers on the streets!

The new fountain inside this space is beautiful! It has champagne bottle spouts that have a special part inside so that it really looks like you’re popping a bottle of champagne. It also was inspired by a zoetrope, which are the artistic wheels that you can spin to make the image inside look like it’s moving. The fountain has Remy carvings along the side, so that if you could spin the fountain (which really you can’t), he would look like he was moving.

We also got to see the entrance for the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride, which will open on October 1st as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration! The ride entrance is reminiscent of an old French ticket booth so that it looks like guests are going inside a theatre! There are two small ticket booths at the entrance along with an overhead sign that has hand-laid gold leaf on the top. We thought it was gorgeous!

We’re super excited for the opening of this space and the new ride! Keep following AllEars for more info about upcoming Disney World events!

Disclosure: We were invited by Disney World to attend a media preview of the new Ratatouille area. This did not affect our reporting of the event — our opinions are our own.
Is it possible to buy a lightening line entry and also get an entry using the virtual queue to ride twice in the same day?
I can’t wait for this ride!!! I am also super excited to finally get to ride it!!!!!!???????????
