While many Disney World resort hotels have reopened, there are a few that still remain partially (or fully) closed and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of those.

The hotel has been undergoing a major renovation as the rooms and lobby area receive new Moana-inspired details and we’ve been keeping track of the progress. Disney had originally announced that the resort would reopen in late July and now we have an official date!
According to an update shared with Disney World travel agents, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will reopen to all guests on July 19th. This is the same date that Disney has already been accepting reservations for the grand opening of the new Moana-themed rooms.

On this date, the temporary front desk location at Pago Pago will close and the front desk services and the concierge will move back into the Great Ceremonial House. Plus, valet and Disney’s Magical Express will open once again under the new port cochere.

And, while many of the amenities will reopen with the hotel, the monorail station and the front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House will remain closed as construction continues. In the meantime, guests will be able to access a side entrance to the lobby and will continue to be able to take advantage of bus transportation to and from the Magic Kingdom.

And, for those who would like to bypass having to stop in the lobby area when first arriving, Disney will continue to encourage guests to use their Online Check-in and Direct-to-Room service.
Of course, we will continue to keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!

Have you ever stayed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? Let us know in the comments!
We fell in love with love with the Poly in 1979 when we sat in the chairs on the second floor lobby. We called them our dreaming chairs. We dreamed about how nice it would be to stay there. Well we saved vacation funds and spent a week there in 1980. It was such a magical vacation. We spent a whole week there with friends. We loved the lobby and big waterfall. The atmosphere made us feel like we were away to a special island. We have stayed there and at other Disney resorts several times over the years but will never forget how awestruck we were on that first vacation. We could sit in the lobby for hours and enjoy listening and looking at that waterfall.
