How Accurate Are Wait Times at Disney’s Animal Kingdom?

We are back at Disney World today, this time at Disney’s Animal Kingdom!

Tree of Life

And we’ve been seeing summer crowds throughout Disney World, which, obviously affects wait times. But just how long are the actual waits, especially in comparison to the posted wait times?

We spent some time today standing in line for many Animal Kingdom attractions to find out just how accurate those posted wait times really are.

We took a peaceful boat ride through Pandora’s Na’Vi River Journey and saw a posted wait time of 45 minutes. Our actual wait was just 36 minutes, though.

Morning, Shaman!

After River Journey we went on Flight of Passage, which tends to have some of the longest waits in the park. Although the posted wait time was 75  minutes, we were riding on our Banshee in 66 minutes.

Apparently, matching your DNA to a Na’vi requires unflattering video.

Over in Dinoland, U.S.A., we hopped on a vehicle to travel back in time to go get that dino on Dinosaur! Posted wait time was 35 minutes. We only waited 7 minutes for the pre-show and then another 15 minutes for the actual ride vehicle.

Our date with the Yeti on Expedition Everest was also shorter than the posted wait time. Disney said it would be a 20 minute wait, but we only waited for 16 minutes.

Kilimanjaro Safaris had a posted wait time of 50 minutes, but we were riding in our safari vehicle and seeing lions, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, and all the other wildlife of the African savannah in 39 minutes.

Hello, Rhinos!

We also caught a performance of A Celebration of the Festival of the Lion King. We hopped in line 10-15 minutes before the  next show started and snagged a seat about four rows from the top. The theater was not full for the performance we attended.

Look at All Those Animals!

So today’s wait times were fairly accurate, although we found we ended up waiting less than what was posted. That’s been a lot of our experience with lines since Disney World’s reopening, but we’ll keep you updated to let you know if that changes.

Have you been to Animal Kingdom recently? What were wait times like for you? Let us know in the comments.
