Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is undergoing a HUGE refurbishment as the rooms, lobby area, and more receive a new Moana-inspired theme.

We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction and have watched Disney put a fresh coat of paint on some of the existing structures, previewed the new Moana rooms, and now we’ve got an update on a new (and BIG) addition to the entrance area!
We stopped by the hotel today and noticed that the new main entrance roof is now in place! Construction began here back in October of last year, causing construction walls to go up and the monorail station to close, so this is a big milestone.

Now you can see how the colorful new design on the front of the giant roof will look to welcome guests to the resort from now on!

And, as a reminder, here is what the original concept art from Disney looked like for the entrance area. Pretty similar if you ask us!

Construction walls are still up in the area and crews continue to work on the entrance, but it sure is exciting to see Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort taking shape! Currently, the resort is set to reopen to all guests in late July. We will continue to keep an eye out for updates, so stay tuned!

Every time I see something on the progress, I can’t remember what it looked like before. In my head, it’s always looked like the concept art. Can you share some pics of before the refurb on the next update?
